Augusta, Georgia, best known for the Master Golf Tournament that invades the area every spring is home to much more than golf enthusiasts. Augusta has also been one of the home locations for PotashCorp, one of the world’s largest fertilizer companies, but it appears not all is well there. PotashCorp. announced that it would be laying off 18% of its employees as employees in both Canada the U.S. Meanwhile, local economist Simon Medcalfe believes things are actually not so bad as he sees good things ahead for Augusta as the local area has added 2,500 jobs since 2010. The sectors that look to lead the new hiring binge include retail, leisure and hospitality, and transportation and utilities.
